Named after the Doors album and open since 2001, Morrison Hotel Gallery is the definitive home for fine-art music photography, representing more than 125 photographers across rock, jazz, hip-hop, and pop. It’s a second-floor SoHo loft with rotating shows, a little outside the immediate block but a favorite detour.

A contemporary gallery founded by Jose Martos, now anchored in Chinatown after years in Chelsea. The program favors emerging and mid-career artists working in a conceptual, experimental vein, with ambitious shows that punch well above the size of the room.

Opened in early 2026 by designer Alexander Wang and his mother Ying Wang inside a landmarked Chinatown building, the Wang Contemporary is devoted to Asian and Asian-American creativity across art, fashion, and culture. The programming is fresh and cross-disciplinary. Worth checking current hours before you go.

Founded by Ki Smith, this Lower East Side gallery shows a deliberately diverse roster across mediums and backgrounds, with a counterculture streak (a recent show marked fifty years of punk). Expect artists experimenting with new materials and ideas.
